2025 AVRSL Tipping Comp – Season Recap
Well folks, what a wild ride it’s been! From Round 1 right through to the big finish, this season was as unpredictable as a Manly game on a Friday night. Upsets, shockers, miracle tries, Origin chaos – and week after week of punters chasing that elusive perfect round. We had early dominance from Jade Hut, who looked untouchable at one point… until the wheels fell off and DP came flying in to steal top spot – only to suffer a blowout and tumble down the ladder. Then came John Brogden, the silent assassin, pulling off miracle rounds to sit comfortably at the top for what felt like forever. But as every tipper knows, comfort never lasts. Along came Nelio, steady and sneaky, flipping the comp on its head and sharing the lead with The Count (the GM himself!) and even Digger at one stage. The ladder looked more like a game of musical chairs than a leaderboard. Through all the carnage, one thing stayed the same – the rare-as-hens-teeth perfect round. Week after week we waited, prayed, and cursed Manly… and only three times all season did a sole tipper nail the lot: Round 3, Round 26, and again in the very last round. And so, after 27 rounds of chaos, it all came down to the wire. In the end, the tipping crown goes to the legend: ZZ-TOP. Cool, consistent, and rock-steady to the finish. Nelio takes the silver medal after an incredible campaign. And how about this – a three-way tie for third between Roachy, The Count, and Digger. That’s right, three blokes on the podium, all claiming bragging rights and sharing the glory. This season had everything: upsets, near misses, shock leaders, collapses, and the tightest finish we’ve ever seen. To all who tipped, sweated, swore at the TV, and blamed the refs – well played. Bring on 2026… surely the tipping gods will be kinder next year (but probably not). Congrats to ZZ-TOP, Nelio, Roachy, Digger & The Count – legends of the 2025 AVRSL Tipping Comp! |
